In todays episode Jessica Lehnhoff, former professional player and founder of Lehnhoff Tennis International, visits the podcast and tells us about her journey as a player and her great experience of everything college can bring you both on and off the court.
Jessica Lehnhoff is born and raised in Guatemala City. When she was eleven, she moved to Florida and soon became the no1 player U14 in USA, a position she held during her junior years. She went on to compete in the Slams as a junior, choosed the college pathway and played for University of Florida and after those years reached 166 in the world on WTA and 105 in doubles.
After her career she coached in Florida, New York, London and Sweden and later started her company Lehnhoff Tennis International with what she works full time with today.
– Being a tennis player you need to manage everything in your life. Being a college player I learned so much about myself.
Thru helping the players today with educating them in what choices they have and guiding them to make the right choice of school Lehnhoff feels great with giving new generations the same possibility to the great college experience she had herself.
One of the things that have changed college sports is the new rule that came 2021 named NIL (Name Image Likeness). Athletes in college are now able to make profit from endorsement deals and advertising. That is a big change – now athletes can start getting paid much more already when their still students.
– Football players bring a lot of money to universities and can now make millions while tennis players don’t have a lot of deals yet. Males a bit more then females, but still not that much compared to some other sports.
Jessica describes in the episode some of the important steps when helping players with the process of signing for a university, for example with the video all players are recording and how important the video is. She also talks about how she have a constant contact with all her clients on WhatsApp.
– I am very proud of saying that my company in 10 plus years we have a 100% success of sending every single person that have joined LTI to college.
